RISING DAMP

For rising damp solutions across Surrey

damp rise

Unlike other forms of damp, rising damp is not caused by leaks, condensation, or humidity. Instead, rising damp occurs because of natural capillary action. What this means is that standing water is drawn up through your home’s building materials. Mortar, bricks, timber, and plaster are all porous materials providing an accessible path for this ground water.

In most cases, your normal Damp Proof Course or Damp Proof Membrane are enough to stop this form of damp. However, if your damp proofing solution has been bridged or broken in some way, this allows rising damp to occur.

Rising damp is normally easy to resolve. At The Damp and Timber Company, we have decades of experience between us, repairing rising damp across Surrey. This includes rising damp in properties as far afield as Reigate, Crawley, Dorking, Horsham, Oxted, Sevenoaks, and beyond.
